milwaukee illuminate film festival (miff.) is an underground, intersectional film festival illuminating the work of queer, trans, Black, Indigenous, Asian & Pacific Islanders, all People of Color, Jewish, femme, fat, neurodivergent, & disabled filmmakers. As well as filmmakers who are survivors of sexual violence.

Milwaukee Illuminate Film Festival (miff.) is an independent film festival that specifically looks for works that challenge normative ideals, provoke thought & emotion, connect & explore communities & subcultures, & is artist-made. We celebrate the strange, experimental, avant-garde, non-traditional, & love the weird within film & video. Please note that we do not accept AI generated films.

In between 2024 & 2025 miff. shifted from a business to a volunteer run community based project; an inclusive festival for all people from underrepresented & historically marginalised communities. miff. is an accessible festival that celebrates both the art & the artist. We aim to create spaces & events that build community & support as part of this community project.

miff. 2025 donated all festival proceeds to the ACLU Wisconsin.
